Purpose
Contribute to a successful Tax Campaign by troubleshooting and resolving technical issues encountered by members of the Tax Team.
Provide assistance to the Manager in completing the Tax Reporting to Canada Revenue Agency and Internal Revenue Service.


What You'll Do:


  • Support and assist in the generation of adhoc queries, monthly reporting for various reconciliations; and work with vendors to scope, test and review effectiveness of available technologies.
  • Assist in the preparation of spec documents for internal technology developed reporting for the Tax Team.
  • Support and assist the paperless Tax Campaign by troubleshooting any macro issues for T5s, T3s, and T5013s and the gathering of income payment data and tax information from CDS and security issuers for 1099, 1042, T3 and T5 reporting.
  • Pulling and matching tax reports from various sources.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Effectively manage risk and minimize losses by: i) Adhering to effective procedural management controls that are in place; ii) Following escalation procedures for any potential losses; iii) Challenging/reviewing existing procedures to ensure adequate controls are implemented; iv)
  • Assisting with monthly reconciliations of control/suspense accounts ensuring all monetary changes are valid.
  • Research general tax issues, and Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

What You'll Bring:


  • The ability to be proactive, use own initiative, and work independently, as well as part of the team
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced and highvolume environment with keen attention to details
  • Proficiency in MS Office with strong knowledge of visual basic programming and macro creation to both create and troubleshoot existing Microsoft Access databases and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills and quick, accurate keyboarding skills.
  • Some Canadian and US/QI tax knowledge and good basic accounting background.
  • Working knowledge of dividends, income processing, and reorg
  • Working knowledge of the following systems: Broadridge, TXSY, CDS, DTCC, BFS, AS400
