    Role and Responsibilities

    In the context of a training center environment, and working in coordination with simulator technicians, the Flight Simulator Integrator is responsible for certain aspects of the flight simulation training device's software and hardware configuration. You will have the opportunity to develop in a dynamic, innovative and multidisciplinary environment and in a fast-paced workspace that encourages collaboration and teamwork.

    The FSI (Flight Simulator Integrator) identifies and resolves deficiencies (either with internal or external support), performs operational software and hardware configuration changes to resolve snags as well as defines and applies configuration control procedures. The FSI is responsible to understand the regulatory context in which the results of his/her work is being integrated. The role requires the ability to integrate changes and identify the unwanted changes/regressions to simulator functionality. This, in order to maintain and sustain operations of the training device in an approved training environment, in accordance with all regulatory (FAA, EASA etc.) and the Training Center's compliance (quality) monitoring system requirements (including defining and overseeing supporting processes and procedures as mandated).

    The FSI is responsible for communicating and coordinating all these items and work relating to these items to team members both internally (such as simulator technicians, instructors, etc.) and external (clients, CAE CS, CAE PDS, CAE Engineering, regulatory authorities). The FSI will work within the guidelines of the CAE core values – empowerment, innovation, excellence, integrity and ONE CAE.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of C, C++ and FORTRAN programming languages and scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of AIX, LINUX and Windows operating systems.
  • Understanding of computer architectures and networking concepts.
  • Understanding of real-time simulation systems.
  • Understanding of the software/hardware interface along with instruments and avionics.
  • Experience in software integration.
  • Strong ability to diagnose problems.
  • Solid planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to technological changes.
  • Flexibility and strong ownership of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Initiative, autonomy, dynamism, team spirit and a love of challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and a results-oriented approach.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required both spoken and written.
  • Self-motivated, independent, dynamic, team player.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in technology.
  • Assets:

  • Interest and understanding in the relationship between technical hardware and software interaction as it relates to aviation simulation
  • Familiarization with electronic theory and principles and electronic testing equipment.
  • Aeronautical knowledge, knowledge of avionics, flight dynamics, aircraft systems and simulated systems an asset.
  • Aerospace knowledge (aircraft systems, pilot's licence, etc.).
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools for debugging software (.NET and/or Windbg, DBX, GDB).
  • Knowledge of CAE software and applications (CAELIB, STARTEAM, STRIVE framework, ACS framework, visual systems and SIM XXI).
