As one of Canada's largest Restaurant Equipment Suppliers, Trimen Food Service Equipment is looking for a Buyer to support the maintenance and growth of our Multi Unit Chain Restaurant business, our Independent Street Business as well as all purchasing initiatives.

Based at our Head office at Trimen Toronto, this position will report into the Director of Purchasing and Supply Chain.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders based on sales orders, delivery dates and lead times.
  • Assist with entire supply chain cycle from purchase order to receipt
  • Participate in collaborative discussions with our sales team and project managers to ensure timely execution.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to project managers, and vendors alike including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
  • Review inventory reserves monthly to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
  • Where possible, evaluate and source existing and new vendors for materials, equipment, supplies and service
  • Negotiate terms and pricing for materials, equipment, supplies and services in conjunction with existing contracts.
  • Participate in weekly cycle counting, inventory transaction audits, and 1/4ly physical inventory counts
  • Review with production coordinator to ensure proper communication and planning of parts and raw material supply
  • Analyze daily reports to identify critical inventory issues for Trimen
  • Respond to inquiries on: out of stock situations, product orders, status of purchase orders and current inventory levels.
  • Facilitate the execution of special purchasing requests such as Drop Ship or CIA, to ensure timely delivery
  • Work with Supervisor/Manager to reduce inventory costs through prepaid minimum analysis, product liquidation, return to vendors, vendor supported inventory cost write downs and all other means as directed.
  • Regularly check for changes to PO's through peer reviews and production meetings. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are achieved.
  • Develop and manage vendor score cards for performance and reviews
  • Must have the ability to use technology, written resources and vendor contacts to find product details, and calculate costing on requested products
  • Excellent time management, administration, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships, network, influence and link resources to plan and execute business practices.
  • The ability to multitask and take on new responsibilities with a strong desire to succeed
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience and competency using spreadsheets. Experience on Google apps will be an asset.
  • Two years previous food service industry as supply chain analyst/purchasing or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A working knowledge of food service equipment and supplies is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the ePurchasing and Supply Chain Systems knowledge will be an asset.
  • French language will definitely be an asset.
