Reporting to the Director, Health Information Management & Decision Support, the Decision Support Analyst is part of a team specializing in supporting the organization's information and analysis needs including but not limited to: clinical activity (quality and utilization), benchmarking, clinical indicator development and patient movement and flow.

This position analyzes, interprets and reports clinical and statistical information and supports a number of team's process improvement activities.

The incumbent will be part of a high profile and well respected team in supporting the organization in making evidence-based decisions.


Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:


Required

  • University degree in Health Information Sciences, Health Informatics, Computer Sciences, healthcare related discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 2 or more years related experience in a Decision Support Analyst role
  • Experience preparing analyses of clinical activity, benchmarking and impact analysis
  • Excellent report writing skills including the ability to accurately summarize and communicate clinical and statistical information clearly and effectively for managers; Experience with 3M report writer
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, attention to detail and conceptual skills and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and collaborative decisionmaking skills
  • Ability to manage to prioritize workload and accommodate changing priorities
  • Demonstrated delivery of a customer service focus with joint negotiation of timelines; Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet changing priorities and tight timelines
  • Ability to remain current within a fastpaced, ever changing healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of International Classification of Diseases ICD10 and the Canadian Classification of Interventions Knowledge of Case Mix Methodology, DAD & NACRS, OMHRS, CCRS and NRS
  • Previous experience with industry databases such as ERNI
  • Knowledge of MIS standards and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
  • Demonstrated customer service and responsiveness required
  • Ability to flex hours of work as required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
