Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy.


Reporting to the Manager of Workforce Management, this position is responsible for delivering and executing on recruitment, and onboarding initiatives, with a focus on trades personnel and field labour.

This position is based out of Valard's Concord office. Some travel may be required.


Requirements:


  • Consult with hiring managers and supervisors to determine specific job requirements, staffing needs and key information before recruiting.
  • Create and manage spreadsheets and resume folders to track applicants.
  • Advertise, source, screen and shortlist resumes and qualified applicants.
  • Complete background checks including references and driver's abstracts.
  • Prepare offers of employment.
  • Assist new hires with onboarding process and ensure all documentation has been completed.
  • Support the planning and execution of Valard's recruitment strategy, including attending company recruitment events, open houses, and job fairs at various locations.
  • Identify when recruitment challenges persist and collaborate with the Manager, Workforce Management in proposing solutions.
  • Assist management in managing crew lists.
  • Administrate field movement including rehiring and transferring of current employees and hiring of new employees.
  • Ensure proper documentation of employee files.
  • Identify areas of improving efficiency and quality for recruiting highturnover positions.
  • Request/track/code client specific training ie. Strabag, Graham, Toronto Hydro, Bell, Hydro One
  • Pull HRIS reports monthly for essential training
  • Prepare/coordinate/host vendors for training inhouse and for internal trainers
  • Manage crew profiles and training profiles in HRIS database
  • Perform, review, track, submit documentation for orientations
  • Assist with building training programs/materials for inhouse training
  • Request/track/code provincially regulated training
  • Records Management of provincially regulated training
  • Complete various reports to be shared with various stakeholders.
  • Provide additional administrative support as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Attributes

  • Highly proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience in behavioral and situational based interviewing techniques.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Be a positive team player, have the ability to get along with others and assert oneself with diplomacy.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and business writing skills.
  • Be selfmotivated with sound decisionmaking and problemsolving skills; have an aptitude for analyzing situations and formulating solutions.
  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates sound work ethics, cultural awareness, honesty, and confidentiality with regards to private and sensitive information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources considered an asset.
  • Experience working with unions is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 23 years of experience in an HR or recruitment administrative role.
  • Experience using an enterprisescale Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Experience working with trades, apprenticeship and/or the powerline or construction industry is an asset.
