About the position

Responsibilities

Responsible for the cooking, baking, and food preparation for delivery to daycare centres on a daytoday basis.
Ensure safe food storage and disposal; including taking daily logs of food temperature and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
In addition to the regular food production schedule, the kitchen assistant can be responsible for preparing special meals and snacks for all allergen children, vegetarians, and any other special dietary needs.
Ensure effective cost control by minimizing waste, proper food allocation, controlling food inventories, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation.
Oversees kitchen operations including scheduled cleaning and sanitizing of appliances, counters cupboards, and drawers.
Require to prepare food for field trips, schoolage programs, and community events from time to time.
May require to deliver prepared food to daycare centres on some occasions.
Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the daycare centres.

What you need

Current Food Handler Certification

years of Sous Chef or Executive Chef work-related experience.

Experience in a daycare environment would be an asset.
Red Seal designation or similar certification an asset.
Valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Criminal record check
Ability to push, pull and lift up to 45 pounds
