Position Summary
Inventory Coordinator - Paed.
Inpatient Unit

You are accountable for ensuring equipment and supplies are available across all areas of the Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric Program.

As part of this process, the incumbent manages inventory and provides required analysis, monitors capital equipment acquisitions, acts as clinical expert for technology, supports procurement for all equipment and supplies within the program areas conducts clinical trials and provides administration functions as needed.

You will be in working in a fast paced environment with mínimal supervision that requires great organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.

This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

Inventory and Analysis, Managing Supply Chain, Capital Equipment, Bar coding, Procurement and understanding of BSP guidelines, Clinical trials and impact analysis

Daily assessment of stock and non-stock inventory and prepares electronic requisitions for removal from inventory and subsequent re-ordering as required


Coordinates inventory control functions across the Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric clinical areas, including receiving and depletion of inventory and providing recommendations to the Clinical Leadership Team regarding inventory level.

May assist the Buyer placing orders

Coordinates materials and information flow with the Buyer for the program and the Purchasing Department

Data entry of all pertinent information into materials system daily in an accurate effective manner

Responsible for the receiving of goods and completion of all necessary paper work and/or entry online to the inventory including ensuring that: Goods are what was ordered, the quantity is correct, items are free from defect, items with expiry dates have been checked for long shelf life, items conform to WHIMS and TDG legislation and regulations

Plans for and participates in the physical inventory count according to NYGH policy

Develops and implements a monthly cycle-count policy and makes necessary changes to inventory numbers

Negotiates with financial accounting regarding inventory and cycle count financial adjustments

Performs analysis on inventory turn levels, inventory dollar and physical amounts. Provides recommendations to the Clinical Leadership Team, as appropriate

Identifies process improvements for the acquisitions of inventory, the relationship with the Purchasing and Materials Management departments

Identifies potential savings to the inventory costs and provides recommendations for implementation

Works with the Buyer for the program to determine substitutes and facilitate product trials

Advises management of low levels of stock, top-up status and other inventory related issues


Qualifications:

Degree/certificate in Business administration preferred

Project Management Cert/Diploma preferred

Previous experience in health care environment required. Experience in healthcare supplies, preferred


Experience with the Material Management System: Supply Application Product (SAP)

Experience in a computerized inventory/material management system

Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Excel

Physical ability to lift, push and carry heavy weights

Thorough understanding of RFP and Procurement principles and processes from a business and clinical perspective

In depth knowledge of capital equipment budget management process

Experience in supply chain management

Excellent understanding of Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric equipment and supplies

Understanding of basic business concepts

Understanding of information systems as they relate to the clinical and supply chain areas

Experience with clinical inventory systems
