Corporate Tax - Manager


My client, a leading Canadian consulting engineering firm, is seeking a
Manager - Corporate Tax to join their Global Corporate Tax team.

This position is based at its Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario, reporting to Global Director, Tax.


The opportunity


This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a
global tax planning and compliance team, including but not limited to, global transfer pricing policies & documentation, but also supporting our business units/ practices in terms of contract structuring to optimize taxes for both Hatch and its global clients.


This role will manage the Company's income tax accounting and compliance activities and participate in tax controversy matters, and tax planning, including transfer pricing and ad-hoc projects.

This position will have a strong collaborative relationship with members of our global Finance and treasury team.

This position will also collaborate with both the Senior Manager, Tax and Global Director, Tax
on tax planning projects including project structuring, developing acquisition strategies, and due diligence.


What you will do:


Tax Advisory/Planning

  • Support business units and commercial teams with research and recommendations minimizing tax exposure and complying with tax requirements.
  • Support shared services teams on various tax issues that may arise related to company shareholdings, mobility for staff crossborder and payroll source deductions.
  • Field taxrelated queries from the shareholder relations, mobility, HR, payroll, insurance, commercial and legal groups.

Compliance

  • Manage and respond to Canadian corporate tax audit issues and queries
  • Canadian compliance including T2 tax returns, Foreign Affiliate reporting (T1134 forms), surplus calculations and estimated payments
  • US Corporate Tax Provision & Compliance oversight and review, coordinating with external advisors (big 4 accounting firm)
  • Coordinate US tax audit responses with external tax consultants in the US
  • Maintain global transfer pricing documentation including updating Master and Local File requirements globally, including Country by Country reporting requirements
  • Maintain and provide taxrelated forms such as W8BEN, W9, and Tax Residence Certificates (US and Canada) as needed.
  • Oversee and review the administration around tax withholding, remittance and reporting requirements related to crossborder payments.
  • Liaise with finance and tax teams globally to provide support and inform any formal and informal tax reporting needs.

Financial Reporting

  • Review Canadian corporate tax provision.
  • Coordinate and Review US tax provision.
  • Coordinate and consolidate regional inputs into global tax provision and financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a Global Cash Tax Forecast.

Skills And Experience:


  • 5 to 6 years of relevant work experience in public accounting and/or tax consulting
  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working in Canadian Tax
  • Experience with US tax compliance and international tax would be an asset
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, and management principle.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing domestic tax compliance including provision workpapers and tax returns.
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software such as SAP, Forms Master and Tax Prep etc.
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent research and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and strong interpersonal skills

Salary:
$125,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
