We are currently recruiting for a Corporate Communications Specialist to be located at either our Cambridge or Toronto (Dupont and Lansdowne area), Ontario location.


JOB PURPOSE


Reporting to the Marketing Communications and Design Manager, the Corporate Communications Specialist will develop and execute communications plans; write for various audiences including traditional and social media; maintain the internal and external communications channels such as the website and social media.

In addition, this position will develop a process to track relevant key performance indicators.

The position will support both the Power and Medical business segments, starting with an emphasis on supporting the latter's strategic initiatives.


RESPONSIBILITIES

External Communications

  • Develop and manage external communications in support of special events and functions including, but not limited to: media events, site tours and VIP visits.
  • Drive the development of compelling and steady content for social media and maintain the social media calendar.
  • Develop a process to track analytics, monitor analytics and generate reports upon request.

Internal Communications

  • Develop and manage internal communications in support of special events and functions including, but not limited to: service milestones and training sessions.

Media Relations

  • Working in collaboration with relevant internal parties, lead planning and logistics for media events including booking of facilities/rooms, rental equipment, catering, scheduling, draft remarks, media advisory development, coordination with customers and managing invitations.
  • Draft press releases, sourcing information and acquiring necessary approvals.
  • Scheduling, draft remarks, media advisory development, coordination with customers and invitees.
  • Help regularly update and maintain the BWXT Commercial Operations Crisis Communications Plan.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Community College Diploma in Public Relations, Marketing Communications, Journalism or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, adapting styles/tones to different audiences.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and basic knowledge of print/graphical requirements.
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate to a diverse audience.
  • Strong research, interviewing and writing skills.
  • Ability to coordinate various projects and meet a variety of milestones under very tight timelines.
