Financial Analyst to join the team.


Objective:


  • The Financial Analyst will be responsible to analyze and forecast financial, economic, and operational data to provide accurate and timely information to support strategic and operational decisions. This position will lead business analysis, budgeting, forecasting, preparation of pro forma(s) and proposal packages for acquisitions.

Reporting:

will report directly to the

Controller.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with Construction, Land Development, Sales, Marketing, Legal and Accounting departments to perform ongoing reconciliation and model adjustments of projects under development;
  • Collect, aggregate and evaluate project information across Hopewell's portfolio to assist in budgeting and pro forma financial statement modelling for investors and Board of Directors presentations, and participating in those presentations;
  • Evaluate and compare the relative quality of various development opportunities; including:
  • Preparing and presenting pro forma development models to senior management and investment partners;
  • Preparing and presenting confidential information memorandum documentation;
  • Perform financial modeling in Excel and ARGUS to support land acquisitions and divestitures, as well as project integration with single family housing and multifamily housing;
  • Collate due diligence audit packages to support information included in investor materials;
  • Monitor fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments through the analysis of information obtained from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications, company sources, and personal interviews;
  • Preparing ad hoc financial analyses as necessary;
  • Prepare periodic cash flow and IRR updates on projects. Ensure proper commentary and analysis is provided with reports;
  • Monitor business performance trends and develop predictive forecasts as required;
  • Perform ongoing reconciliation and model adjustment of projects;
  • Develop and document processes, while incorporating Budget & Finance best practices;
  • Provide insight and guidance on information technology solutions related to the analyst role; and
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.

Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years' of progressive, financial analysis in budgeting and strategic planning;
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration;
  • CPA, CFA, MBA or CBV designation obtained or in process is considered an asset;
  • Experience working from the groundup creating KPI reports, dashboards and other management reports;
  • Experience with robust financial modelling within Excel and previous use of VBA, SQL and Power BI would be considered an asset;
  • Previous experience with ARGUS Developer Software is considered an asset;
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to provide accurate forecasts and translate the impact of financial information to the business;
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in the real estate industry;
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet strict deadlines, manage conflicting priorities and deliver under pressure;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with others and establish strong relationships, internal and external to the organization;
  • Displays strong professional judgement;
  • Creative problemsolver with a strong work ethic, attention to details, and accuracy;
  • Ability to handle confidential material and conduct oneself in a professional manner;
  • Highly motivated with strong adaptive problem solving skills and business acumen;
  • Keen sense of attention to detail with the ability to learn tasks quickly;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Working Conditions:


  • Traditional core office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position may require periodic work outside of normal office hours.
