Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


Under the direction of the Director of Patient Services - Surgery, and in close collaboration with the Managers of Patient Care - Adult, Children's, and Women's Operating rooms, MDR and other stakeholders, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that patient care requirements with regards to equipment and supplies are met.

Ensures that OR user equipment and supply needs and requirements are properly managed, communicated, and that all equipment and supplies in use comply with OR needs, HSC standards, Manitoba Health directives, accepted national standards, etc.

Identifies the requirements of the Surgical Suite related to equipment/supplies, and works with other Departments as appropriate to facilitate the provision of such resources.

Represents the interests and needs of the Surgery Program during the selection and implementation of new equipment and supplies, and is responsible for overseeing their continued operation.

Participates in the selection or development of any new equipment and supplies.

The incumbent additionally is responsible for ensuring that patient care requirement is incorporated into the facilities planning process.

Ensures that OR user needs and requirements are properly communicated to Physical Planning, and that the completed design conforms with OR needs, HSC standards, Manitoba Health directives, accepted national standards, etc.

Identifies the requirements of the Surgical Suite related to computerization, and works with other Departments as appropriate to facilitate the provision of such resources.

Represents the interests and needs of the Surgery Program during the selection and implementation of an OR computerized information system, and is responsible for overseeing its continued operation.

Participates in the selection or development of any related computer systems.


Experience:


  • Minimum of four years recent OR nursing experience required.
  • Previous OR administrative experience, including experience in the development and/or use of computerized OR information systems, preferred.
  • Familiarity with SIMS, SITS(TDOC), Microsoft Office, SAP, VOCERA Admin required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Graduate of recognized School of Nursing. Baccalaureate in Nursing.
  • Masters of Nursing preferred.
  • A combination of work experience and education would be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with Shared Health policy.
  • Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNA).

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

  • Physical and mental health required to perform the functions of the position.
