Role description
We are looking for a

Vice President, Corporate Technology to lead the technology function for the Great-West Lifeco and Canada Life Corporate functions as well as the Canada Life Reinsurance business segment. Reporting directly to the

EVP and Global Chief Information Officer (CIO), you are responsible for the technology strategy, delivery and culture for the corporate functions including Finance, Actuary, HR, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Audit. As a strategic partner to several C-Suite executives, you are accountable for all aspects of technology planning, delivery, operations, innovation, and risk in support of the internal and external stakeholders for the functions.


What you will do

  • Act as a strategic to multiple senior executives in the development of their technology strategy.
  • Drive a significant system modernization program to enable our digital and automation roadmaps, migrating legacy systems to target platforms including cloud based solutions
  • Accountable to proactively work with key stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver creative solutions
  • Work with technology leaders to influence the evolution of practices, processes, methods, methodologies and standards
  • Accountable to design, buy or enhance technology solutions and processes that help create a clear competitive advantage for the business
  • Lead daily operations of technology ensuring the efficient and effective use of financial and people resources
  • Maintain pulse on emerging technologies, service provider options and competitor intelligence
  • Drive a highperformance culture for employees that focuses on consistently delivering stakeholder value
  • Lead a global workforce of teams based in North America and Europe
  • Coordinate efforts with Global CIO, Canada CIO, other senior executives and Lifeco segments entities to leverage the breadth and scale of the portfolio of companies
  • Manage risk and compliance in accordance with Canadian and Global standards

What you will bring

  • 10+ years' experience as a technology leader
  • Experience in financial services, and preferably in insurance working in a regulated environment
  • Experience building and working in global matrix and complex organizations. Demonstrated ability to influence teams where resources do not all report directly into the function.
  • Skilled leader with exceptional communication abilities, collaboration and relationship building skills establishing credibility and fostering crossfunctional relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills needed to effectively build relationships and communicate with Executives, internal stakeholders, regulators
  • Demonstrated experience in driving change and modernization agenda in partnership with functional stakeholders
  • Proven Strategic thinking skills, with a longterm outlook and the ability to drive results to improve business unit performance and create a culture of accountability
  • Ability to attract, motivate and develop talent to build the right team to meet strategic direction and tomorrow's needs
  • Experience in a regulatory environment
  • Proficiency level of technology, systems, and project management experience
  • Experience managing large enterprise resource planning platforms
  • Ability to use knowledge of industry, business and systems to solve business problems and maximize business performance
  • Operational risk expertise related to working in complex shared environments with a focus on technology and cyber risk
  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration or related field(s)
