    The Solution Architect leads the development of the overall technology architecture to support system architecture development for IT projects.

    Some of the key IT projects in the IT Portfolio include Microsoft Dynamics implementation for Customer Service Center, Next Generation 911, Labor and Disability Management solution etc.

    Under the general direction of a supervisor, an incumbent of this class performs tasks related to IT projects that build new software and hardware products and solutions for the organization.

    An incumbent of this class analyzes technical and functional requirements; makes decisions on the target state technology architecture; develops integration and interface design, conceptual architectures, and data models in coordination with other team leads, staff and external vendor contacts.

    An incumbent leads the team to troubleshoot technical issues in deployment of software, end to end connectivity and integration points; analyzes and evaluates business, technical, functional, on-going maintenance, and control requirements; and prepares options and recommendations for approval.

    Considerable independence and judgement are exercised in all aspects of the work, discussing the more complex programs with a superior who evaluates work performance in terms of the attainment of desired objectives.

    Furthermore, you will lead the development of the overall technology architecture that will enable the project to meet its business and technical objectives; provide direction to team members; and ensures knowledge transfer and training are successfully meeting department goals; and prepares and maintains a variety of reports and records; and keeps abreast of recent developments in computer techniques and procedures.

    Performs related work as required.


    Qualifications include university degree at the Bachelor's level in computer science, business, public administration or a related discipline and considerable related experience in project management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Thorough knowledge of problem definition and analysis related to business processes and systems architecture, (for example EnerGov, Amanda, Tempest, ActiveNet, GIS, Cisco etc)and knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative management and project management techniques.

    The role requires considerable knowledge of IT components, process and developments such as implementing SaaS and COTS products in a hybrid of business solutions and data-driven digital service initiative.

    Ability to document, analyze and assess a variety of information, identify priorities and resources and propose alternative business processes; act as a technical lead on the application and implementation of IT projects related to new software and hardware products; and to provide technical direction to staff assigned to the project; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; and communicate effectively orally and in writing and to present proposals in non-technical language.
