Position Summary:The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking an enthusiastic, detailed oriented, positive individual to join our People Services Team. Reporting to the Director, People Services, the Employee and Labour Relations Advisor, is responsible for promoting and supporting positive employee and labour relations. This position supports the Director, assumes acting responsibilities, and takes on projects as assigned by the Director. This position supports the organizations managers and supervisors to mitigate employee and labour issues.


Responsibilities:


Some specific accountabilities for this position include participate and provide input into Union Negotiations as a member of the People Services Team; interpret and administer collective agreements; provide guidance and advice to leaders regarding unionized employees; provides support on labour relations and disciplinary matters while fostering fairness, equity, and legal compliance; and assist the Director with management of the employee grievance process.

The Employee and Labour Relations Advisor will determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship; advise and educate employees and managers on human resources policies, procedures, initiatives, and programs; provide expertise to managers and supervisors on performance management, issue resolution, disciplinary action and investigations as needed.

This position is expected to bring forward to the Director any recommendations for change or improvement in all aspects of People Services.
