The UGDSB employs a team of approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington, and the City of Guelph.

The UGDSB covers the ancestral and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Six Nations of the Grand River, and Saugeen Ojibway Nation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Location:
Guelph Board Office (500 Victoria Road N., Guelph, ON)


Salary Range:
$116,000 - $139,200 (per annum, 40 hours per week, 12 month position)


Board Information: 1.0 FTE;
permanent, full-time; Administrative Employees


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the asset management program for facility infrastructure including property, buildings and mechanical/electrical systems for all schools and administrative sites operated by the Board
  • Work closely with Capital/Renewal Manager to develop projects for asset replacements and ensure new assets are integrated into the asset management program
  • Provide technical expertise to the operations staff in the areas of institutional buildings architectural and mechanical and electrical systems
  • Supervise staff covering data management, CAD library, facility projects, asset life cycle analysis, trade employees and contracted work including performance appraisals
  • Ensure compliance and accountable practices to satisfy legislative, regulatory and code compliance
  • Assist with coordination of programs in maintenance to ensure that Board facilities are operating cost effectively and asset life cycle is being optimized
  • Report regularly to the Senior Facility Manager of Facility Services on the status of property and buildings, identify issues and requirements for action and prepare reports as required
  • Develop and manage the budget for facility maintenance, projects and contracted work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Engineering or equivalent technical based program/experience
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License.
  • Experience leading coordinating and managing trades and technical staff
  • An understanding of strategic planning and project management
  • Strong analytical abilities and decisionmaking skills
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Technical expertise in building systems
  • Demonstrated success in previous employment
  • Flexibility in working hours upon occasion
