We are growing our infrastructure related business in Arup Canada.

Our team works with a range of key clients in Ontario, Quebec and across Canada helping our clients deliver their most challenging projects and are seeking a
Senior Environmental Leader / Director in our Toronto or Montreal office to participate in design development and lead our efforts supporting approvals of Infrastructure projects in the Rail, Highway /Roads, Water/Wastewater and Ports market sectors.


Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Managing municipal EA/TPAPs for a range of projects
  • Leading the environmental elements of major infrastructure project approvals including transportation and major civil projects
  • Identifying appropriate environmental approvals processes and designing stakeholder, public, and technical work programs to support the approval process.
  • Managing specialist input to EA project process
  • Engaging in business development efforts to secure environmental planning projects
  • Business Development and Market Connection for environmental planning projects and climate & sustainability services in the North Geography
  • Targeting, winning and delivering projects in the North Geography
  • Supporting and leading bids for environmental assessments services across Canada
  • Delivery and support of climate & sustainability services thinking on projects across North Geography
  • Establishing and maintaining connections with professional colleagues, identifying and developing marketing leads, preparing marketing proposals and materials, and representing Arup at interviews
  • Helping to lead, manage and grow a team of environmental enthusiasts

Qualifications

Required:

  • B Degree in civil engineering, environmental planning, city planning or closely related discipline
  • P Eng, OIQ, MCIP, RPP or equivalent designation is desirable
  • 20+ years of professional experience in the built environment and 10+ years relevant professional experience including recent (5+ years) experience in environmental assessments in Ontario.
  • Professional Licensure
  • Demonstrated experience with a range of federal, provincial, and municipal sector clients
  • Understanding of environmental regulation at all levels of government
  • Established working relationships with specialist firms who support the Environmental Assessment process (archaeology, heritage, ecology, etc.)
  • Project leadership experience for projects of $500,000 in fees/project costs
  • Market profile through professional relationships and speaking engagements
  • Business development track record
  • Track record of team building and growth
  • Strategic and creative thinker

Preferred:

  • French language proficiency in desirable
