Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

The Manager, Portfolio Management Data Analytics is a strategic partner role at Moneris.

You will have oversight on the usage of Moneris financial, payments risk, credit ratings and credit bureau data to lead efficiency and support Risk Management decisions with statistical thoughtfulness.

You will be a strategic enabler supporting different teams across the organization with a focus on Enterprise Risk in their analytical and reporting requirements.

Strategic goals include building analytical tools with advanced analytics that measure numerous risk indicators and outcomes driven from machine learning to support decision-making.

Risks include acquiring, funding advance risks, credit and fraud exposures.

The role requires direct partnership with Sales, Operations, Finance, Technology and external partners such as:
Third-party Acquirers, Credit reporting agencies and bureaus. You will create and harness Moneris data to build accurate data analytics, dashboards and risk tools.


Location:
You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a Hybrid model.


Reporting Relationship:
You will report to VP, Merchant Portfolio Risk Management.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

  • Implement a broad range of requests including leading advanced analytics projects that incorporate all areas of Moneris Risk Management.
  • Identify insights that are useful and bring these to the attention of risk owner(s).
  • Service all Moneris portfolio risk management team ensuring they have adequate, relevant information they require to run the business.
  • Build Models using statistical methods, programming, and business knowledge.
  • Lead and use analytics and insights improve the performance and ease of use of Moneris data.
  • Identify industry insights, business trends, macroeconomics to provide opportunity for Moneris to improve the optimization of resource allocation and decisioning to manage risk.
  • You will be a significant partner of Enterprise Riskfocused Corporate Data Definitions to work with all areas of Moneris.
  • As a direct partner with Data Governance and Technology the Manager ensures data definitions are used in operationalized reports, tools and dashboards within the governance framework.
  • Perform routine reconciliation activities of all Enterprise Riskfocused data.
  • Design an audit methodology and conduct audits, which measure data quality and verify usability of the data, and going through all reports historically built to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate and partner with teams and departments to explore and capture opportunities to use data science and analysis to deliver incremental profit and efficiencies.
  • Relationship manage work to assist different areas across Moneris to support decisionmaking while considering appropriate Risks, costs, and return based financial analysis.
  • Work with Data Platforms, Sales and Partners-Product teams to implement models that will be used for operational and risk management purposes to support product offerings. Also, identify reoccurring requests/reports which can be automated and work with Data Platforms to implement.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and issues in data science, including current technologies, platforms, standards, methodologies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Lead discussions on Moneris data products and analytical capabilities with external parties. Partner with Moneris approved external vendors, Moneris Product-Partners, Technology and manages expectations. Establish timelines, determine feasibility, and advocate best practices regarding Moneris risk management.
  • Use and stay adept with data market trends to lead insights to guide Portfolio Management leadership to build hypotheses and make recommendations that facilitate our decisions around strategic opportunities to support Moneris risk management and loss provision targets.
  • Lead development of business and market insight capabilities through analytics to constructively challenge paradigms, promote important performance drivers and identify opportunities to capture growth.
  • Evaluate business intelligence to ensure data products (internal and external) are on par with industry standards.
  • Some main technical responsibilities include: identifying terms, ensuring terms are clearly defined, the source of data is identified and verified before being adopted across Moneris.
  • Lead the Risk Management data analytics team
Your Moneris Career - What you bring

  • University degree required (or equivalent work experience may be considered a substitution)
  • 5 or more years' experience in data analysis (work in risk management ideal)
  • 3 or more years' experience in people management
  • R, Python, SAS, SQL, Tableau, Power BI
  • 2 or more years' experience working with Cloud providers (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience with Moody's KMV, Personal and Commercial Bureau and rating agency data
  • Previous experience in the payment industry considered an asset
