THE ROLE

Reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Finance, this role is critical in developing end to end high quality Pension Finance processes in Corporate Finance working closely with the Pension Services team.

This role supports the accounting, controls, and reporting of all the benefits plans within UPP maintaining UPP's financial data and compliance to ensure accurate transactions and processing are consistent with our company processes and internal controls and pension practices are in line with best practices and comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.


This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (approximately two days per week in-office).


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pension Finance Manager will have responsibility for setting up end to end recording, control and monitoring processes that include the following but not limited to:

  • Building the pension finance processes end to end for member contributions, transfers and benefits payments in partnership with Pension Services and Cash Operations
  • Leading the design, implementation, and execution
  • Maintain and streamline the processes once they are in production with ongoing continuous improvement
  • Build controls and 3way reconciliations
  • Notional Tracking help build a reporting book of ledger and build the controls/reconciliations to pension finance
  • Liaises with Pension Services, Tax, Cash Operations and Pension Administrators concerning member benefits and contributions transactions
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, quality, and value to internal clients and external clients/plan sponsors, through changes in processes, policy, or use of technology.
  • Maintains and updates source documentation and related information by assisting in implementing procedural improvements and system enhancements to the pension system.
  • Assist with adhoc analysis.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A selfstarter
  • Able to multitask effectively.
  • Comfortable to work with ambiguity.
  • Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills are essential.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Accustomed to high level of transaction volumes and data entries.
  • Minimum five years of recent and related experience in defined benefit pension administration at supervisory level
  • CEBS designation would be considered a strong asset
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to the think through problems, assess a variety of factors, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team who enjoys a highperformance culture; comfortable and flexible with constantly evolving priorities and is open to new challenges
  • Proactive and motivated to create positive change

EDUCATION:


  • University degree, preferably in business administration or finance/accounting, with a focus on management, human resources, or employee benefits
