EVENT SALES MANAGER
REPORTS TO DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

THE ROLE:

The Event Sales Manager is responsible for selling and planning events including corporate meetings, wedding receptions, parties and conferences.

They are responsible for securing new business and maintaining relationships with current clients while acting as a go between with the food & beverage team to ensure a seamless execution of events.

They must also be involved in maximizing department operations to meet or exceed our annual budget expectations. As a leader they will maintain a professional, positive attitude towards their job at all times.


ACTIVITIES:

The duties of the Event Sales Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan events from start to finish based on guest requirements
  • Provide suggestions to the client to enhance the event's success while upselling the hotels offerings
  • Effective & timely communication by telephone and written correspondence
  • Communicate event order requirements and lastminute requests or concerns to the appropriate departments throughout the hotel
  • Conduct hotel tours
  • Reviewing and modifying the "Weekly Catering Summary"
  • Completing Weekly Catering Activity Planner
  • Attend industry events to network and look for new leads
  • Involved with the plan to grow event revenue
  • Must ensure all proper procedure for billing and credit approval are completed
  • Ensuring that all company guarantees are completed 72 hours prior to their meeting or function
  • The Catering Sales Manager must complete follow up correspondence on their booking to ensure total guest satisfaction
  • Any other miscellaneous duties as required
  • Fully detail all Room Set Up, Food & Beverage and Audio-Visual Requirements on contract Sales Agreements

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:


  • 2 years' experience in Conference & Catering Management/Banquet Management with additional Sales experience (hotel operations background preferred)
  • Related college/university diploma/degree
  • Must be creative and effective leader, possessing a high degree of professionalism and superior customer skills
  • High energy level, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, strong teamwork and employee relations skills required
  • Excellent problem solving, communication (both written and verbal) presentation skills required as well as the ability to close a sale
  • Proven ability to up sell and manage multitasked assignments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of Opera PMS would be an asset.
