Overview


Are you a tactful professional with a strong attention to detail seeking a new challenge? If yes, read on As the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) Coordinator you would provide support to the Privacy Officer in responding to FIPPA access requests.

Your responsibilities include leading work in the following parts of the FIPPA Access process:


  • Perform initial assessment of access requests, and make recommendations to the Privacy Officer about initial responses, including recommendations about clarifying requests and confirming authority to make the request.
  • Execute records searching
  • Prepare all material for work within a records review platform
  • Perform initial assessment of documents that the BCSC has gathered relating to an access request, internally consult with staff as needed, load the records to a records review platform and review to determine if a record is responsive or out of scope and whether a fee estimate is required
  • Perform initial assessment to determine if a records should be entirely withheld, and for what reason
  • If not withheld, properly tag records for redaction
  • Preparing, for the Privacy Officer's review, responses to applicants or correspondence to third parties, including drafting letters and preparing records for disclosure, including numbering and redaction
  • Assist with letter and notice preparation, including sending responses to applicants and sending records by secure file transfer.


You would also be participating in projects that expand and maintain our privacy program, as well as other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Your qualifications include:

  • Completion of a recognized Paralegal program and a minimum of three years of relevant experience or a combination of these qualifications to effectively perform the tasks required.
  • Experience as a coordinator of privacy access requests at a government agency or crown corporation is an asset.
  • Ability to:
- implement and maintain administrative programs
- work independently and under pressure
- deal respectfully with outside parties
- manage, organize, and review large number of documents, with attention to detail
- meet deadlines and manage priorities
- exercise tact and diplomacy
- be discrete and maintain confidentiality

  • Must be able to occasionally work outside core business hours
  • Familiarity with privacy legislation, and/or past work in a litigation environment are assets, as is the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) designation.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is between $57,150 (minimum) - $71,439 (midpoint) - $85,727 (maximum).
