Human Resources Administrator

Permanent, Full Time 35 hours per week
Salary Range $24 to $28.94 per hour

$43,713 to $52,663 per annum plus benefits and HOOPP pension plan


Position Summary:


The Human Resources Administrator provides support for the recruitment process, benefit administration, orientation and training for new staff, labour relations functions, performance management tracking and documentation.


The Human Resources Administrator reports to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of HR functions across the organization and for communication with staff and management to resolve queries and issues.


Specific Duties Include:


  • Assists with the recruitment process including posting job vacancies, and screening resumes as required;
  • Maintains personnel records, files and information ensuring all items are accurately and securely filed;
  • Prepares "letters of employment" as requested by staff;
  • Assists with processing payroll related changes (e.g. new hires, status changes, terminations) and produces reports using the payroll system, ADP Workforce Now;
  • Assists with the employee hiring and orientation processes, registering staff for training and ensures related documentation is completed;
  • Administration of the group health benefits and pension plan, registration of participants, notification of leaves and terminations, investigating and resolving issues as necessary;
  • Oversee and administer the online training system including registration and tracking of staff and follows up to track training records;
  • Assists with the implementation of the health and safety program including required reporting and documentation;
  • Serves as a resource to managers and staff, providing information and helps ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of the collective agreement across the organization;
  • Assists in consultation with management members regarding investigation and performance management;
  • Provides back up to the HR Manager and the management team to assist with investigations and ensure compliance with the policies;
  • Conducts research into human resources and labour relations issues and trends as required and applies the relevant information to update policies and practices;
  • Participates in the Labour Management and Bargaining Committees as required.
  • Assists with development, review and updates of human resource policies/procedures;

Qualifications:


  • Graduate of a recognized Human Resources program at the college or university level or an equivalent combination of education and training;
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience as a Human Resources Administrator or equivalent;
  • Experience in a unionized environment an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when entering data or information;
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, regulations and guidelines;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and conflict management skills;
  • Excellent written ability to prepare postings, job descriptions, policies, meeting minutes, memos, etc.;
  • A proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information;
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and payroll software (knowledge of ADP Workforce Now an asset);
  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams;
  • Understanding of Antioppression principles;
  • Ability to work effectively with people of various cultural, age and economic backgrounds;
  • Knowledge of the Regent Park area and issues affecting the community.
  • Must have "up to date" vaccine booster for COVID for the protection of staff and clients.
