Position Overview:


Reporting to the Security Front Line Supervisor serving IOL this position has the primary responsibility to perform all duties related to the Site Access Control System to control access to the Imperial Oil Sarnia Site for the purpose of security as well as emergency duties.


This position requires familiarity of the Imperial Oil Sarnia site and its practices, as well as an extensive general computer knowledge in order to perform all required tasks.


The Gate 2 Security guard is expected to represent Paladin Security Group as well as the facility they are assigned to.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Security personnel at this location will act as backup to #318 Gate for in plant emergencies.
  • Security personnel are to be conversant with emergency duties and procedures
  • Monitor Genetec access at Gate
  • Custodian of key and sign out for IOL gas pump during offhours.
  • Custodian of keys, key press and key log for #2 Gate.
  • Report MOB Generator alarms to RSS via Site Emergency Channel immediately
  • Hold keys to IOL vehicles to be picked up for repair.
  • Inform S.E.R.L./RSS/SSL of the arrival of police, fire department, MOE, MOL, US Coast Guard, Transport Canada and media.
  • Conduct EWS test every second Monday as per schedule
  • Conduct Overtime callout for IOL mechanical trades.
  • Conduct snow removal callout at the request of the S.E.R.L.
  • Operate Weigh Scale during offhours according to #2 Weigh Scale procedures.
  • Monitor CB channel and for product truck communication.
  • Initiate report for record of public complaints regarding odor, noise or any other complaint and notify proper IOL contact.
  • Conduct gate specific duties during emergencies and follow direction from site leadership.
  • Liaise with other security staff on site.
  • Operate Site Center COM Radio system as required
  • Responsible for emergency loading rack shutdowns upon request
  • Notify S.E.R.L. and the Security Shift Leader of all alarms
  • Notification to S.E.R.L. and RSS of any incidents
  • Liaise with S.E.R.L. and Security Shift Leader
  • Use software to detect severe weather and heat and crosspatch this to the site
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required
  • Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when providing a security presence, such as providing direction, responding to emergency situation.
  • Perform miscellaneous jobrelated duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • At least two years of security experience in a team lead role would be an asset
  • Post-Secondary education in a law enforcement/security program from a recognized college
  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
  • Security Guards at Imperial Oil may be required to complete a drug & alcohol test for incidents that occur on Imperial Oil property
  • A successful interview with the Site Security Manager is mandatory
  • Must be able to pass N95 mask fit test (clean shaven)

At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:

  • Immunization Record
  • A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Proficient in English (both oral and written)

Successful completion of the following requirements provided by Paladin are mandatory prior to placement:

  • Paladin's online WHMIS 201
  • Basic Safety Orientation through the IEC (will be arranged through Paladin)
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Level C
  • Additional courses as assigned
