    Reporting to the Manager for Cardiac Diagnostics, the EMG Technologist plays an essential role in the diagnosis of health conditions affecting the muscles and nerve cells and is responsible for performing EMGs. They will perform electromyography testing, documenting, equipment monitoring, cleaning and maintenance, and other duties as assigned including: - assessing, planning implementation and evaluating patient care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary patient centered care environment.

    Requirements:


    • Registered as an EMG Technologist (BRETC and A.E.T.C registration

    • Current BCLS

    • ACLS an asset

    • At least 1 year experience in EMG testing with proven basic knowledge about the nervous system, the human anatomy and physiology

    • Must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment, assess patient capabilities and limitations and make practice adjustments as necessary

    • Ability to interpret and evaluate clinical data and information

    • Commitment to maintain appropriate registration/affiliations, participate with regular in-service education sessions and also undertake training for EEGs

    • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills and be able to work accurately and productively under stress

    • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance, prioritization and time-management skills

    • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.

    • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
