PLC mental health team is a group of dynamic multidisciplinary teams that work together to ensure our patients have the best care and experience.

Our site runs six Addictions and Mental Health programs (two General psyche units, Day hospital, Psyche ED, Consultation Liaison and the specialty Mental Health Short Stay Unit (SSU).

The SSU operates on a 72 hour crises stabilization and multidisciplinary type model serving most of our marginalized population within the zone.

Unit 27 and 25 are the acute care general Psych unit.

Reporting to the program manager for PLC Mental Health Acute Care services, the Unit Manager (UM) will play a key leadership role supporting the goals and strategic direction of the portfolio.

Required Qualifications:

Active registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA or CRPNA). Graduation from a recognized nursing education program. Knowledge and understanding of the mental health continuum required. Experience with crisis interventions, substance abuse issues, personality disorders, etc. is required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). Nursing experience in an acute care setting. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a health-related discipline. Minimum 3 years managerial experience and 5 years past experience in acute care. AIW (Alberta Improvement Way) or equivalent. Change management training.
