JOB SUMMARY:


This job provides leadership support to the Dean and Director, Finance & Administration related to strategic projects and initiatives in the Faculty.

This changeable independent job involves managing multiple projects, reviews, and committees or working groups within specific timeframes.

University acumen, strategic thinking, interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills with strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and adaptability are essential.


PURPOSE AND KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Managing and coordinating projects in support of strategic initiatives as by identified by the Dean and/or Director, Finance & Administration;
  • Responsible for project development and management: organization, implementation, and communication to bring about the successful completion of project goals and objectives;
  • Lead internal and external reviews: organization and management to bring about the successful on
- time completion of the review of a faculty or a department; can be responsible for writing the review report; Supports various committees and working groups
- organizing meetings, preparing meeting materials, writing final reports;

  • Researching, defining, drafting/writing, and presenting a variety of reports that include findings and recommendations arising from independent research;
  • Responsible for project planning; implementing, evaluating and adjusting plans and schedules to reach goals; ensure results are achieved in an effective and efficient manner;
  • Establishes project schedules, responsible for ensuring timelines are met and that results are achieved in an effective and efficient manner;
  • Manages multiple, largescale projects. Consults with, advises and leads other project participants. Develops project plans and monitors progress towards desired outcomes;
  • Conducts research, collects data from internal and external sources, compiles, processes and synthesizes data and interprets results. Researches best practices. investigates specific issues and develops appropriate recommendations and responses;
  • Works collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders across departments, programs and schools;
  • Develops a range of solutions to a given problem, identifying potential risks and benefits of each and determines best options;
  • Prepares comprehensive reports, executive summaries, and correspondence for distribution.
  • Provides support for decisions through the preparation of background papers, briefing notes on various topics;
  • May serve as a consultant on various committees;
  • Acts as a resource person, liaison, and communicator; and,
  • Expected to keep abreast of University and Faculty of Business activities and to act proactively and independently to interpret and effectively deal with information.

  • Strong understanding of the governance model of the Faculty, and McMaster University.
