    Description
    WSP is currently seeking a Birder to join our Ecology team, based in any of our southern Ontario offices.

    Reporting to the Team Lead, the successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to work on challenging and diverse projects with a range of complexity.

    Other skills such as flora and/or wildlife identification / species at risk (SAR) habitat analysis skills are an asset. The current position is a 6-month contract position.

    #Perform background research
    Undertake field investigations, including, but not limited to, breeding bird count surveys, migration surveys, and nesting surveys
    Assist with wildlife field investigations, including, but not limited to: amphibian calling surveys, bat acoustic / exit surveys, SAR wildlife habitat assessments, as needed
    Assist in proposal writing, study design and implementation
    Quality control of field data collection
    Data analysis and data management
    environmental assessment documentation, environmental impact studies and ecological monitoring reports), including documentation of existing conditions, avian data
    Field work, including overnight travel and potential for some weekend work is required
    Overtime may be required to manage deadlines
    Post-secondary education in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies and/or other similar field
    Knowledge of standard field protocols for a avian surveys
    Willingness to work independently in the field, occasionally in remote locations, and outside standard office hours
    Fluent in the use of standard Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word
    Class G Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required
