SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team.

The Manager, Payroll manages the Payroll department, ensuring the Corporation's employees are paid in a confidential, accurate and timely manner according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, government laws and company policies.

This includes planning, developing, implementing and maintaining the systems and controls that process employee wages and salaries, and distribute payroll costs, deductions and benefits into the corporate financial management system.

Position Details- Non-union - This position is permanent full time.


Key Accountabilities- Manage and provide leadership for the production and processing of Union, Management, Executive, and Board of Directors payrolls to ensure employees are paid in a confidential, accurate and timely manner.- Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures that are in accordance with rules and regulations.- Prepare and develop documentation of internal controls and processes relating to Payroll, ensuring the documentation is accurate.- Manage and provide leadership to assigned staff, delegate work, manage performance to goals, coach, and mentor, including training and development plans.- Supervise the processing of payrolls and printing of payroll advices, ensuring employee pay, taxes, pensions and benefit deductions are accurately calculated and paid.- Lead the payroll team to complete year end related activities, including updating taxable benefits, reconciling, and producing T4's, reconciling accounts and remittances/deductions and completes all government, external and internal reporting that is required.- Support all internal and external audits as it relates to administering payroll, benefits, and compensation programs in accordance with policies and legislation.- Oversee the development and maintenance of the corporation's information system payroll module, collaborating with the Human Resources (HR) team to assess and define the business needs and provides input/recommendations for timely implementation of enhancements.- Create, coordinate and/or review reporting for Finance, Executive Leadership Team and/or other related departments and agencies.- Respond to, complete, or ensure various complex government and shareholder reporting requirements as required by policy or legislation.- Consults with various HR units on matters that impact compensation or benefits.

Provides data summary, costing to support complex outcomes such as bargaining, negotiation of letters of understanding, policy creation, government direction.- Other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Degree in Business Administration or Commerce.- Six (6) years of experience in payroll and accounting; four (4) years with progressively challenging roles and responsibility in payroll, as well as experience in a leadership role.- A Certified Payroll designation would be considered an asset. Experience and technical knowledge of Workday would be considered an asset.- Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamwork.- Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
