This is the job for you We are currently looking for a Financial Operations Compliance Analyst for a government institution.

    What is in it for you:


    • Hourly salary of $52 to $57, based on experience.
    • 6-month contract with a maximum extension term of 6 months.
    • Full-time position: 36.25 hours per week.
    Weekday schedule: 8:15 am to 4:30 pm.

    Hybrid position: 3 days per week in office.

    Responsibilities:


    • Conduct intermediate accounting functions to ensure accuracy in ministry financial statements.
    • Execute intermediate accounting activities, guaranteeing precise posting and reporting of financial transactions.
    • Fulfill the Accounting Officer compliance function to ensure proper discharge and adherence to government and departmental policies in disbursements.
    • Conduct compliance reviews on disbursements, including daily Accounts Payable, Account Receivable, and General Ledger transactions (e.g., expense claims, P-Card, EPS, various invoices).
    • Assist in account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
    • Offer intermediate level financial advisory services to stakeholders.
    • Analyze, investigate, and resolve intermediate operational issues brought forth by customers.
    • Provide advice and interpretation of financial policies and procedures.
    • Perform any other duties as required.
    What you will need to succeed:



    • University graduation in a related field.
    • Enrollment in a professional accounting program (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA) is desirable.
    • 3 years of relevant experience in a role similar to this, preferably in the public sector.
    • 3 years of experience in financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and reliability of financial statements.
    • 3 years of experience in accounting systems, including process creation, budget management, and internal controls.
    • 3 years of experience with process improvement, documentation, and requirement gathering, including Information Technology accounting processes.
    • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), audit principles, and internal controls.
    • Familiarity with government financial management systems, Financial Administration Act, and related policies.
    • Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
    • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Ability to exercise professional judgment and make analytical decisions.
