Who are we looking for?
GHD is looking for an
Intermediate Hydrogeologist to join the Waste Management Group in our
Vancouver, British Columbia office.

This position is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an established waste management team in Canada working on a variety of waste projects for municipal, private, and First Nation clients across the province.

Hydrogeologic support is also provided internally for a variety of business groups including integrated water management, contaminated sites and remediation, and emergency response.

Estimated 25% of your time will be outside of the office in the field.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Assist or lead waste management projects requiring permitting, operations support, design, monitoring, and closure.
  • Perform field work related to geologic, hydrogeologic, and hydraulic characterization and investigation.
  • Complete data compilation, interpretation, and analysis of hydrologic, hydrogeologic, geologic, and geochemical data for technical investigations, conceptual and detailed design, and environmental reports.
  • Preparation and completion of environmental monitoring programs including sample collection, drilling, well installation, well development, slug tests, and landfill gas testing.
  • Evaluation of geochemical and hydrogeologic conditions for contaminant fate in aquifers e.g., developing sitespecific simplistic numerical models.
  • Writing technical deliverables, work plans and proposals e.g., technical assessment reports, design, operations, and closure reports, hydrology and hydrogeology characterization reports, specifications, annual operations and monitoring reports, and design reports.
  • Effectively work with multi discipline project team members including engineers, scientists, technicians, project managers, and finance managers.
  • Complete project scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise and collaborate with drillers, contractors, and laboratories as needed.
  • Work closely with the waste team and delegate tasks to junior staff to execute projects that satisfy and exceed client expectations.
  • Mentor junior staff on office and field components of projects including project management, communication, health and safety culture, report writing, data interpretation, drilling, and environmental sampling.
  • Collaborate closely with client representatives and/or agencies, as required.
  • Travel to various sites across BC will be required.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Degree in Earth Science, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Agrology, or equivalent
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Geoscientist. Other designations such as EIT, P.Eng., P.Ag. will be considered.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and problemsolving skills.
  • Selfmotivated, able to balance multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong desire to work as a team player with GHD staff, subcontractors, clients, and agencies.
  • Ability to manage up and complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform field tasks and troubleshooting while working in inclement weather conditions and in remote areas.
  • Previous experience with Surfer, Grapher, gINT, Aqtesolv, CAD, Civil 3D is beneficial.
  • Valid driver's license and is required.
