The Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems in line with IATF 16949:2016.

The role is pivotal in the Continual Improvement activities pertaining to the quality function within the business and is critical in maintaining sound customer relationships.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership, training and coaching to all staff in the Electronics & OEM department.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient production system, SOP's, and Control Plans to ensure our products always meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure process and quality procedures for the department are followed and understood by department personnel.
  • Ensure that key production metrics are met monthly by managing the schedule, reviewing jobs and reporting to the Production Manger daily.
  • In collaboration with the production team, provide solutions and recommendations to improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and improve quality.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical documents including schematics, blueprints and drawings.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve a variety of technical issues to improve Ampco production layout and processes.
  • Closes Jobs and monitors Job cost variances for out of line entries.
  • Ensure FMEA'S and Control Plans for each Department are up to date and is regularly.
  • Ensures that Material allocations are completed regularly and properly.
  • Maintains an inventory system for components and spare parts. Ensure component inventory and accuracy to ensure continuous production.
  • Responsible for the quality of processed goods in the department.
  • Ensures that the quality checklist have been completed and signed of as needed.
  • Work on corrective actions to correct NC's that have a root cause in the department.
  • Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.

What you bring to Ampco:


  • 2+ years' experience in a supervisory position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience running year end inventory for the department.
  • Ability to handle highpressure situations in a fast paced, highly demanding industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Wellversed in relevant software (e.g. MS Office and Adobe Suite).
  • Able to manage several projects going thru production at once and prioritize one's workload.
  • Must possess enough strength to safely maneuver around materials up to 25lbs without injury to themselves or others.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and a good working understanding of the impact of quality in the production process would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of, Theory of Constraint DFM, PFMEA, Lean/ Six Sigma Fundamentals would be considered an asset.

The typical hiring range for this position is from
$58,000 - $65,000; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
