    Reporting to the Senior Project Manager - Stormwater, the Project Specialist - Stormwater is responsible to manage a variety of small to medium capital projects from budget estimates, planning, procurement, design through to construction tender. The Project Specialist - Stormwater facilitates the project management of capital projects, primarily in municipal stormwater infrastructure projects, within a diverse team of professionals. Duties Include but are not limited to:

  • Strong project management skills in collaboration with proven leadership skills in delivering the capital works projects in stormwater (such as SWMF Retrofits, Oil Grit Separators, Channel/Ditch profiling, etc.) within a team environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the planning and design of projects of stormwater infrastructure and related functions.
  • Proven problem solving and decision-making skills with strong engineering principals when providing engineering advice and recommendations.
    Develop and monitor project schedules, financials and negotiate project changes and claims while maintaining the quality and schedule of the project.
  • A strong awareness of municipal government and of pertinent legislation, standards, regulations and policies within local, provincial and federal governments.
  • Liaise with governing and approval agencies, stakeholders, developers, consultants, contractors, internal staff and external agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Possess a three (3) year community college diploma as a Civil Engineering Technologist or equivalent education.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience within the design and project management of stormwater municipal infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience of municipal engineering design and associated engineering standards and procedures.
  • Membership in OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills within an effective team environment is essential.
  • Excellent analytical, research, organizational and problem solving skills and the ability to work independently is required.
  • Extensive knowledge in municipal stormwater design including pertinent legislation, policies, bylaws within federal, provincial and municipal government.
  • Possess strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project and GIS.
  • Possess a valid Class G driver's license in good standing during the course of employment.
  • As a condition of employment, proof of current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications will be required.
