The Role:


This is an exciting opportunity to make meaningful, positive impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Manager, Supports Services is entrusted with the management of our resource coordination and case management programs.

Your empathetic, innovative, and adaptive nature coupled with your many years of varied experience working in the developmental services sector in Ontario enable you to recognize, plan and implement effective improvements and outreach activities to our supports services programs.


This position reports to Director of Support Services and ensures service excellence, thought leadership and cooperative working relationships are built and maintained with our stakeholders and are in alignment with our organizational objectives.

Your other talents include strong leadership and change management skills and fluency in both official languages.


The responsibilities you'll be trusted with include:

  • Leading and coaching the Supports Services supervisory team towards the successful achievement of departmental objectives.
  • Overseeing the development, implementation and risk management of service delivery improvements and general compliance to internal and external established standards.
  • Contributing to community development and outreach by attending and facilitating community meetings and collaborating on projects that best serve the agency's objectives.
  • Developing new partner resources and strengthening existing partnership relationships to share knowledge, and explore capacity building opportunities for the people we support.
  • Facilitating and attending community meetings evaluating SCS's role and areas of risk for the organization and shares this information for organizational planning.
  • Preparing and providing various reports, summaries, trends and statistical analyses as requested.
  • Providing support to the resolution and risk management of complex clinical issues and case files.
  • Creating and executing all thirdparty protocols and agreements for programs subsidized by the organization.
  • Supporting the Director of Supports Services with ad hoc requests as required.

Service Coordination Support (SCS) is the initial contact for individuals who have a developmental disability or autism in the Ottawa and the Eastern Region.

We help people find the supports and services in the community that are needed to assist them in their daily lives.

One of our important goals is to empower families/individuals to make informed choices about the supports they seek.


Location & commitments:


  • This is a permanent, fulltime role based out of our Ottawa office.
  • SCS is pleased to offer a 35hour work week within a hybrid remote working environment.
  • Occasional overtime will be necessary.
  • This role may require some travel to attend meetings locally and provincially.

What you bring:


Language Profile:


  • Bilingual in both official languages (written and verbal) is essential.

Education & Experience:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, or a Bachelor of Arts degree in a related field, and a minimum of 7 years' experience in a related area, including supervisory or management experience at a senior level or equivalent.
  • Proven business, leadership and administrative skills to manage the financial, human resources and information requirements, and to oversee the daytoday delivery of children and adult services.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and presentation skills.
  • Solid analytical, problem solving skills, compassion and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of requirements for coordination of services across multiagencies and Ministries of Health, Social Services and Education.
  • Knowledge of the services available for children / youth and adult with physical, developmental, mental / emotional disabilities, and case management.
  • Negotiating skills and an ability to express opinion in a firm manner demonstrating good judgment.
  • Knowledge of the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008 (SIPDDA) regulation 299/10, and the Child and Family Services Act (CFSA) is a requirement and all other relevant acts
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle a number of issues simultaneously.
