Purpose


Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for Corporate Functions Communications ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


The VP Corporate Functions Communications is a highly visible role, acting as a trusted advisor to the all-Bank Executive team, and reporting to the SVP, Chief Sustainability, Social Impact and Communications Officer.

This role's core mandate includes Executive Communications (internal and external) and strategic change management and support communications for corporate functions.


Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Works collaboratively with Corporate Functions Group Heads and their senior leadership teams to lead and design creative, robust, multi-media, internal and external strategic communications plans for Global HR; Technology, Operations & Digital; Global Compliance; and Global Risk Management:

  • Deliver thoughtful executive communications in support of Corporate Functions programs that enhance the profile of leaders and initiatives of the various Corporate Functions with key stakeholders;
  • Communicate the Corporate Function strategies (and ongoing execution) to employees and key partner groups;
  • Provide overall strategic employee communications for the Corporate Functions Group Heads and senior leadership teams, including quarterly messaging, newsletters, videos and roadshows/town halls (as appropriate);
  • Promote two-way, timely, honest, relevant and concise communications approach and assess and enhance communications effectiveness through research and measurement; and
  • Develop and direct wide-ranging, pro-active and innovative media and public relations programs to communicate and advocate for select Corporate Functions priorities and business objectives that support all-Bank positioning and branding strategies.
  • Serve as senior counselor for Corporate Functions Group Heads and their senior leadership teams by developing strategies and providing counsel in the areas of communication, employee engagement, change management, thought leadership and reputation on an ongoing basis, including:
  • Influence critical messaging for Corporate Functions initiatives linked to all-Bank strategy;
  • Effectively promote the Bank's brand and manage external reputational issues;
  • Enhance employee engagement;
  • Profile Group Heads and select leaders through targeted thought leadership campaigns; and
  • Support change management efforts related to the successful execution of each Corporate Functions' core strategic priorities.
  • Partner with VP, Enterprise Communications on the creation and delivery of proactive and reactive media relations plans for the Bank's Corporate Functions, including
  • Identifying opportunities for Corporate Functions spokespeople to be positioned as thought leaders by the media;
  • Coordinating Corporate Functions spokespeople interviews and public speaking opportunities and monitoring engagement with those interactions;
  • Developing and providing advice and direction to the senior leadership teams of the Corporate Functions on overall media response strategies.

Education / Experience

  • University degree in Business Administration or a related degree.
  • Extensive communications experience in key communications disciplines, including employee, corporate and executive communications and media, investor and public relations.
  • Exceptional knowledge of internal and external mass communication principles, digital content and distribution.
  • Strong working knowledge of the current and prospective media environments in which the Bank operates.
