Key Responsibilities:


  • Liaison with production departments for all technical operational day to day and special project needs
  • Support operations studio and control room personnel
  • Daily crew scheduling and supervision
  • Daily onair broadcast and production quality control
  • Provide production crew costs for budget purposes
  • Overseeing workings of technical facilities, trouble shooting equipment faults and daily reports, and ensuring follow up on repairs, involvement with facilities upgrades and changes
  • Vetting and approval of timesheets and working with Payroll
  • Monitoring Operations personnel skills and their development
  • Monitoring Operations personnel work records and vacation allotment
  • Implement a strategic training and development program
  • Collaborate with College and University broadcast programs, recruiting for internship opportunities

Critical Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education in broadcasting and/or related fields
  • 38 years previous experience and a proven track record in all aspects of television production including live multicamera studio, location and news productions
  • Practical experience and knowledge with production control rooms and studios including: video switchers, digital servers, graphic systems and related technologies; audio consoles, accessories and infrastructure; video cameras, configurations and their related accessories as well as robotic camera systems.
  • Practical experience and well versed in HD technologies
  • Practical experience with a broad knowledge of television technical theory particularly in the digital world
  • Previous experience with formulating production budgets
  • Previous experience working with Payroll and Finance departments
  • Previous experience with unionized work environments and collective agreements
  • Previous experience in dealing with suppliers and contracts
