JOB SUMMARY
The Pension and Benefits Manager will report directly to the Director Human Resources, Planning and Support - Canada Region.

As a member of the regional Human Resources organization, he/she will be responsible for supporting the project management and implementation planning of benefit, pension TakeCare Initiatives and HR projects.

Designs, implements, and administers employee and executive benefit programs including health and welfare plans, retirement savings plans, disability management, and other benefit related programs.

Ensures benefit programs are aligned with Marriott's philosophy and overall talent strategy. Maintains compliance with all legal requirements of various benefit programs.

He/she will be involved in key activities from project planning; managing design, development, implementation, and sustainability planning of assigned projects for the region.

Total Benefits and Pension

  • Leads administration of nonunion and select union benefit plans, including plan design and maintenance.
  • Analyze and monitor ongoing benefit and pension programs.
  • Evaluates feasibility and applicability of Pension and Benefits initiatives.
  • Manages relationship with pension and benefit legal counsel, consultants and benefits plan providers.
  • Attends Quarterly Service Meetings to review service experience and program utilization.
  • Prepares and leads annual benefit planning and rate setting process for Director Human Resources, Planning & Support, RVP HR and RVP Finance Canada
  • Drives and administers pension plan and other retirement benefits. Monitors compliance against requirements and policies.
  • Leads and supports Quarterly Meetings with the Retirement and Benefits Committee to ensure compliance with pension regulations.
  • Tracks and ensures regulatory pension plan compliance.
  • Ensures timely completion of pension and benefits invoicing.
  • Supports Dir. Labour Relations with union negotiations related to pension and benefits.
  • Maintains Paid Leave and Welfare Policies to ensure legal compliance and competitiveness.
  • Supports the property teams through disability management.
  • Manages EAP and promotes utilization on property.
  • Coordinates participation of properties in different TakeCare initiatives and benefit surveys.
  • Analyzes survey results and benchmarking data for development of benefit and pension strategies.
  • Consults with management in the field to assess competitive labour market trends and specific business needs as they relate to benefits and pension.
  • May develop, recommend, and implement benefit and pension process and policy changes, and manage reporting requirements.
  • Develops and deliver material to support and onboard field Human Resources professionals on pension and benefit programs. Includes documentation of policies, webinars and other.
  • Ensures benefit plan education and communication to the field.
  • Develops reporting or gains access to benefit reports. Analyses metrics results for region level presentations and decision making.
  • Partners with payroll for any programming changes related to pension and benefits.
  • Ocassionally leads HR projects, develop processes, procedures or systems for use within departments or Company wide
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

Functional HR Leader Leadership

  • Contribute to the execution of business priorities as set forth by the Director Human Resources, Planning & Support and RVP HR for the Canada region.
  • Develop and execute human resource initiatives, strategies, policies and practices across the region, as required.
  • Deliver sound results by coordinating implementations, tracking results, problem solving and leveraging efforts across the region.
  • Lead projects at the direction of the RVP HR and/or Director Human Resources, Planning & Support including planning, defining deliverables, measuring outcomes, developing metrics, timelines, communications and key milestones.

Performance Management

  • Triage issues by providing transparent leadership needs to successfully manage problems and make informed decisions.
  • Support the design and development of the HR processes for the region and its properties.
  • Monitor success of initiatives/projects and existing programs/products/services.
  • Establish and implement measurement processes to gauge project success.
  • Elevate alternatives and make judgment calls on a range of regional HR projects.
