Position Overview:


The Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) is an independent, not-for-profit, charitable organization that has been providing social, recreational and educational programs; and food, health and supportive services for adults 50 years of age and older in the City and Township of Langley since 1982.

LSRS has over 45 staff, more than 200 volunteers, and 2 primary locations.


Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Recreation Assistant/Health Care Aide assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs designed to meet the social, emotional, and physical needs of the clients.


The Langley Senior Resources Society is currently looking to fill a part time Recreation Assistant/Health Care Aide position at our Adult Day Program.


Shift:
Friday, Saturday and Monday - (up to 21 hours per week)


Hours: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm


Starting wage:
$22.00 per hour


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides personal assistance to all clients for walking, eating, serving, recognizing dietary restrictions, transferring and or toileting
  • Provides personal care to clients when bathing
  • Responsible for daily stocking of bathrooms with supplies, ie gloves, wipes etc.
  • Client Care Plans
  • Monthly charting of all clients that are assigned
  • Daily activity charting, recording client participation and progress
  • Observing clients and follows procedures for reporting any changes in their
- overall condition or behavior

  • Provide exceptional service to customers,
  • Assists staff in preparation and implementation of daily kitchen and dining areas and activity programs.
  • Able to work within a team continually building team skills with strong communitcation
  • Able to work inside the health and safety guidelines as per procedures and bring concerns to the health & safety committee. Able to remain patient and calm when under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to be consistently remain Respectful, Friendly, and Caring with all clients and Coworkers/Colleagues
  • You will need to have a genuine strong desire to help seniors
  • Must be tactful and responsive and have strong communication skills
  • You will need to be reliable and flexible in meeting work commitments.
  • Maintains an uptodate knowledge of Adult Day Program standards, policies and procedures, and the Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) Employee Handbook, and the Health & Safety Manual.

Additional Job duties:

Remain updated on and use best practices concerning bathing clients.


Maintain up to date on health & safety training using all techniques to provide safety for Clients - asking for assistance from co-workers when needed.

Work together as a team and perform other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications & Requirements:

Care Aide Certificate

Health Care Support Worker Program

A Criminal Record Check is mandatory for this position


Other Skills and Abilities


Must demonstrate concern and interest in providing care to clients and be able to stimulate clients and help interest them in various programs.

Must respect that all information about the clients at the Adult Day Program is strictly confidential.
