Organizational Development Consultant


Reporting to the Director, People and Organization Development (DP&O), the Organizational Development Consultant plays a key role in the development and implementation of training and organizational development initiatives to help Mohawk College build its capacity at individual, team, and organizational levels in alignment with strategic priorities.


This position is accountable for the planning, design, development, delivery and evaluation of a wide variety of programs and training supporting all employees, both virtually and in person.

As a member of the HR team, the OD Consultant is a learning facilitator and change agent responsible for conducting organization-wide needs assessment/gap analysis and team specific diagnoses to identify current and future gaps, recommend and/or develop programs and interventions accordingly.


The incumbent is responsible for developing the required design/framework, policy, procedure, communication and promotion of learning and development programs, leadership development, and succession and team engagement initiatives.


This position requires highly developed communication and client service skills, as the incumbent must work collaboratively with partners at all levels within and external to the College to organize, develop and deliver professional development and enhance the overall capacity of the organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Professional Development Design, Development, Delivery and Evaluation

  • Consults and creates organizationwide and clientspecific professional development programs or training, which includes the design, development, delivery and evaluation of the program or training, including such programs as Leadership, Succession and Career Development.
  • Builds competencies into programs and training and development to support and enhance capabilities for all Administrative and Support employees across the college at all campuses.
  • Plans out annual professional development budget and calendar of events based on needs assessment/gap analysis.
  • Coaches and or provides trainthetrainer of others in the facilitation of training modules.
  • Utilizes expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles to select appropriate instructional procedures or methods to appeal to various learning styles, (e.g. individual training, group instruction, selfstudy, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, computerbased training).
  • Demonstrates competence in training design and delivery in synchronous, asynchronous, inperson and virtual learning environments.
  • Develops, manages and promotes ongoing resource library of external professional development offerings to align with individual and organizational needs.
  • Develops and maintains a reference library of training manuals, job aids, books, multimedia visual aids, and other training materials to support knowledge transfer.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates communications and promotional strategies for professional development programs and resources.
  • Provides innovative solutions to increase acceptance and adoption of learning strategies. Implements effective measurement tools that will evaluate return on investment.
  • Ensures the project deliverables/outcomes for existing and new initiatives are successfully executed.
  • Designs and facilitates team development programs, to support and encourage organizational and team effectiveness.
  • Actively participates in college wide department meetings to secure input and ideas for program initiatives and promote lifelong learning and professional development.

Professional Development Needs Assessment, Planning & Reporting

  • Conducts College wide and client specific needs and gap analysis using interviews, surveys, focus groups, committees, and data analytics.
  • Consults with managers, stakeholders, and Human Resources Consultants to determine development needs to meet strategic business objectives and support organizational change.
  • Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements to prepare budgets and plan.
