    The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer's (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, and Document Management applications.

    Your opportunity:

    Under the general direction of the Manager, SIS Core System Products, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering transformational Next Generation Student Information Services (NGSIS) technology solutions to the University. Through your efforts in this position, you will help define and develop a modernized Student Information Services delivery model that will meet current and emerging needs of the organization.

    In this position, you will be responsible to analyze, define and deliver Business Architecture artifacts that will help streamline and rationalize the University's Student Information Services and IT enablement process. You will develop an inventory of Student information Services capabilities, both those already in place andthose that are needed. You will identify gaps in service offerings and aspirations for improvements, mapping current NGSIS solutions and their level of maturity to required capabilities. Through business architecture practices, you will identify which products to keep, retire, absorb, etc.; identify processes to modernize, streamline and simplify; and prioritize product development and resource investments to meet organizational goals with a refresh of the University's core Student Information System.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Developing and updating a business architectural framework for highly complex and confidential university-wide IT systems in support of the future state Student Information Services, Systems and Processes to ensure effective modernization planning and strategic road mapping.
    • Reconciling business requirements with information architecture needs for highly complex system integration and effectively identifying gaps and opportunities for improvements and efficiencies to ensure sound Business Architecture for the future state of the Student Information Services.
    • Researching, analyzing and recommending potential changes to system features and functions in alignment with the optimum architecture and design for the future state Student Information Services, Systems and Processes.
    • Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements and specifications for future state architecture and design
    • Analyzing and recommending suitability of major new software systems, applications, and/or modules
    • Leading, planning, and contributing to enterprise IT projects
    • Providing detailed information on system specifications to clients

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 8 years of progressively advancing experience in business and technical analysis, preferably in a higher education or public institution
    • At least 2 years' experience working in a business architecture role, understanding business services problems and finding optimal business and technology solutions
    • Completed or working towards a Business Architect Certification (CBA)
    • Extensive understanding of business and technical analysis, and architecture techniques and concepts
    • Strong experience dealing with multifaceted, enterprise-wide projects/programs and stakeholders with complex or conflicting agendas
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform both top-down or bottom-up analysis
    • Ability to create conceptual and logical models (e.g. business capability maps, value streams, process models, business information models) to inform business and technology decisions
    • Excellent communications, collaboration and facilitations skills to effectively inform stakeholders and service partners, and guide positive outcomes
    • Strong presentation skills with the ability to make strategic and tactical recommendations
    • Proven ability to lead and influence through storytelling, problem solving, negotiation and analytical skills
    • Excellent working knowledge and practice of the following frameworks: Business Architecture Body of Knowledge (BIZBOK), Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK), The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
    • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities

    Assets (Nonessential):

    • Experience as a Business Architect or Senior Business Analyst in a higher education institution, focused on Student Information Systems and/or Services
    • Experience using ArchiMate
