Summary of Duties
Works independently under the general direction of the Supervisor Facilities Maintenance and Operations or designate. May be required to take direction from skilled trades in the division. Performs a variety of independent duties relating to facility inspections, operations, maintenance, and repairs.
Work Performed
Assists, maintains, inspects, and performs minor repairs to interior and exterior of facilities, building mechanical systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration systems and associated plant equipment.
Assists, maintains, inspects, and performs repairs to interior/exterior of municipally owned facilities and properties.Washes paints walls, cleans, and paints steel, pipes, railing, fence posts, and fences.
Cleans, lubricates, and makes routine adjustments to building equipment and systems.
Assists skilled trades staff in the division in their work.
Receives and prepares written instruction, prepares written reports and completes check sheets.
Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electrical and mechanical test and repair equipment in the performance of work in the performance of work.
Cleans and visually inspects shop equipment, safety equipment and tools as required.
May be required to show others how to perform tasks or duties.
As assigned, performs related duties which are transient, or of an emergency nature, or which are minor, but recurring.
Qualifications/Experience
Successful completion of Grade 12 in the Province of Ontario, and a Building Environmental Systems Certificate or equivalent.
Specialized Training & Licenses
Must have a minimum of two years of building maintenance experience.
Valid Class G Driver's License.
Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Current First Aid/CPR certificate or ability to obtain
Note:
Shift work may be required.
Compensation and Other Information
$ $30.06 per hour
