About Us:


The BC Early Childhood Pedagogy Network (ECPN) is a public forum for the advancement of early childhood pedagogies and the establishment of an accessible provincial network of pedagogists to support early childhood educators in British Columbia.


Responsibilities:


The Pedagogical Coordinator is a professional role responsible for supporting the development of Pedagogists and for providing the Network's professional development services for early childhood educators within British Columbia that aligns with the vision of the BC Early Learning Framework.

The Pedagogical Coordinator will coach and mentor Pedagogists to create opportunities for enhanced pedagogical work within early childhood, and organize and provide structured, sustained, collaborative dialogues for early childhood educators through ongoing monthly engagements and focused workshops.

The Pedagogical Coordinator will work with the leadership team to mobilize the professional development work with educators toward the generation of online resources and in the implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of the Network's professional development services within British Columbia.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Master's Degree in Adult Education, Education or other related field
  • PhD in a relevant discipline preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years' experience in adult education
  • Experience in the early years' education field
  • Experience developing pedagogical approaches

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated innovative, critically reflective pedagogical practice in adult education
  • Comprehensive understanding of postfoundational, reconceptualist, antiracist, postcolonial theories and practices in early childhood education
  • Comprehensive understanding of the BC Early Learning Framework's vision, principles and areas of learning, and description of pedagogical narrations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple and varied stakeholders (e.g., Pedagogists, early childhood education directors, communitybased organizations)
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, with an ability to navigate and participate in elearning platforms
  • Demonstrated capabilities in time management, data organization and overseeing concurrent initiatives, projects, and responsibilities
  • Ability to research resources for enhancing and supplementing pedagogical and curriculum development, and delivering innovative and situated professional learning opportunities for educators
  • Understanding of the implications of the TRC Calls to Action for early childhood education
  • Thorough awareness of the early childhood education sector in the British Columbia
