Purpose


The primary role of the Manager, Pricing and Carrier Management is to work with carrier partners to establish, maintain and continuously improve supplier programs.

The incumbent uses market knowledge and industry expertise to source carriers, negotiate competitive costing and service performance contracts, provide margin strategy and successfully onboard carrier to support new and existing business.


Responsibilities

  • Working with existing partners and onboarding of new carriers to enhance service levels where needed
  • Work closely with Sales and Transport Operations on strategic planning of new business opportunities and carrier selections
  • Performing audits to ensure the Customer Invoicing is accurate and matches our Rate Card. Work with the billing team on any changes or adjustments to confirm 100% billing accuracy
  • Review customer pricing trends to ensure we are meeting the desired profitability
  • Collaborate with sales and Transportation Operations on all margin structure
  • Negotiate rate contracts with carriers encompassing rates, term and conditions based on defined customer needs and service requirements
  • Closely monitor carrier invoices to capture incorrect billing and/or duplications
  • Conduct ongoing benchmarking of carriers' rates to ensure the competitive cost options are used without sacrificing service levels
  • Manage the carrier scorecard process to ensure ontime performance meets required levels
  • Host regular preventive carrier meeting to review performance metrics
  • Ensure all carriers are in compliant and meet industry standards
  • Leverage Company's overall volumes maximize the most optimal rates and carrier service packages
  • Resolve escalated invoice discrepancies between carriers and the Company
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate invoices from our carrier partners
  • Develop strategic alliances with carrier partners to develop new business opportunities
  • Support other department such Claims and Reverse Logistics
  • Other duties and assignments as required.

Required Qualifications

  • College Diploma / University Degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in logistics / transportation operations sourcing carriers, negotiating rate contracts and maintaining relationships
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within a management or leadership role
  • Experience negotiating with North American carriers including cross border and Canadian and US
  • Domestic LTL/TL (Over the Road, Intermodal, Courier)
  • Bilingual in French is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of North American geography including transit schedules, time zones
