What does the Health Information Management team do?
Health Information Management (HIM) is a leader in the collection, storage, and distribution of patient information within British Columbia. Our dedicated team of professionals are some of the first points of contact at Health Organizations sites.

As a consolidated Lower Mainland department of Providence Health Care, HIM has staff at about 40 geographically dispersed locations across Fraser Health, Providence Health Care, Provincial Health Services Authority and Vancouver Coastal Health.

Approximately 1,450 staff working the following

Service Areas:
Registration, Records Management, Transcription Services, Health Information Exchange, and Coding


Additional Corporate Services include:
Strategic Planning, Projects & Business Optimization, Culture & Communications. There is room for growth and development and we aim to support our teams to flourish.


What you will do:


Reporting to the Regional Manager, HIM Strategic Planning & Projects, the HIM Business Analyst, Strategic Planning & Projects is responsible for coordinating assigned projects or supporting specific projects to ensure project deliverables are completed on time.

Works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and inspires others to achieve goals and deliverables through facilitation, effective communication and addressing potential barriers to success.

Communicates with relevant stakeholders, staff and management on the scope and status of the project activities and acts as a resource.

Liaises with consultants, other health care entities and other external agencies, as needed. Provides guidance and direction to project team members. Develops sustainable education and operational plans and evaluates outcomes.


Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education


Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline and three (3) years' recent, related experience including management of projects, facilitating and managing consultative processes with a variety of stakeholder groups or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Familiarity with or understanding of health care systems is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach staff on these skills.

Ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and realize project completion.

Demonstrated analytical and evaluative skills.

Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing with various stakeholders.

Ability to create budget/financial models for projects and business case development.

Ability to effectively learn new software and technology used across the organization.

Demonstrated MS Excel and PowerPoint skills - ability to construct reports and presentations with well-structured thoughts and presentation style.

Demonstrated MS Project and Visio skills - ability to construct comprehensive projects plans and process workflows.


Effective collaboration skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization.

Ability coach and mentor others.


Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Ability to analyze and report statistical data.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Develops project plans, goals, objectives, timelines and deliverables with input from a variety of stakeholders and in consultation with the Manager/Leader or designate.


Implements project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components and ensures readiness for project implementation.

Conducts project activities with specific focus within the HIM operational portfolio/area (i.e., Transcription, Records Management, Registration, and/or Coding).

Tracks project progress according to project plan, monitors and reports on the status and major issues/obstacles encountered. In collaboration with the Manager/Leader or designate, makes recommendations regarding project scope changes, rationale for change, seeks consensus and proceeds
