Overall Requirements:

Our Operations Department is looking for an experienced, high-energy, knowledgeable Debug Technician with a focus in the telecommunications industry.


Responsibilities:


Trouble shooting, debug and repair of sub-standard assemblies with limited documentation from the system level down to the individual card and component level.


  • Advanced knowledge of debugging to the chip level, preferably from the following OEM's: Nortel / Nokia / Siemens / Alcatel / Lucent / Tellabs / Ericcson / Ciena
  • Knowledge of EDFA's, Optical Splitters, Optical Amplifiers.
  • Knowledge of JTAG and BDM (Background Debug Mode interface for embedded systems) and how it applies to logic circuits for programming and debugging an asset.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, microprocessors, controllers, CPLDs, FPGAs and its implementation.
  • Working knowledge and function of various related test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generators, pattern generators).
  • Strong knowledge of RF Broadband Troubleshooting and Optical Troubleshooting skills
  • Strong knowledge of Cable Television systems & fiber splicing are GREAT assets.

Education & Experience:


  • Electronic Technician/Technologist Diploma or Equivalent Years' Experience in the Electronics Repair Field.
  • 35 years relevant work experience within the telecom industry

Additional Qualifications:


  • Ability to interpret schematic drawings and production documents.
  • Contribute to the development of process and procedural documents. Ability to document clearly & concisely will be essential.
  • Sharing in a teambased environment and provide knowledge transfer when required.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work in a timely fashion. This is a fastpaced quick turnaround environment.
  • Ability to listen and communicate with peers at all levels within the organization.
  • Health and Safety conscious.
  • Autonomous selfstarter; can anticipate what needs to be done before being asked.
