    The Manager, Change Management will work across Operations teams to galvanize the organization around the back office transformation strategy to deliver strategic objectives. The role will leverage communications tools (narrative and storytelling that focuses on impact & value) and change management techniques (stakeholder analysis, organizational readiness, influential touchpoints, etc.).

    The Manager, Change Management plays a key role in supporting this area to deliver on all initiatives and associated outcomes by:

  • In support of strategy, utilize standard change management practices to complete a broad assessment of impacted internal populations, develop action plans and execute an initiative-wide program to support communities. Actively oversee all assigned change management efforts, monitor progress and communicate results
  • Establish and drive a network of change agents in support of the function communities, act as an internal consultant and trusted advisor to ensure a structured change management approach and methodology is applied for all aspects of people change
  • Execute specific change mitigation strategies and action plans to engage impacted stakeholders, increase understanding, build support for change, and ensure a smooth transition with minimal business disruption
  • Supporting the creation and sustainment of a change management mindset within and across the business to create employee readiness and engagement
  • Specifically, this will include providing thought leadership around transformational change and guidance at the initiative level on appropriate change management approaches to drive faster adoption and greater utilization of the organizational change management approach and methodology.
  • Work with the Operations leadership team to develop an integrated storytelling plan to maximize the impact of the stories to align with the strategy leveraging the various forums and communication channels available to us, including leadership team meetings, corporate storytelling for recruitment and retention etc.
  • The Manager may indirectly lead small teams through projects to drive strategic, change and transformation initiatives.

  • Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal consultant and trusted advisor to the business and Operations management team to ensure a structured change management and organization design approach and methodology is applied and plans are developed for all aspects of people change resulting from organizational and/or BU specific change efforts
  • Plans and executes projects of various levels of complexity and uncertainty throughout the entire project life cycle from ideation to post-implementation review, including managing project scope, requirements change, multiple and competing demands and priorities as well as determining and conveying impact on budget, time and risk using appropriate fact-based metrics / assumptions.
  • Execute mitigation strategies and tools to engage impacted stakeholders to increase understanding, build support for change, and ensure a smooth transition with minimal business disruption
  • Consult and/or lead the organization design process for future organizational changes
  • Advise/consult with stakeholders in business leaders on applying change management within a project delivery environment
  • Leverages a deep understanding of common challenges faced during transformation, coupled with a deep understanding of segment/functional needs, to highlight the hidden impacts of change and gain support from senior leaders on the commitment necessary to drive change
  • Conveys pertinent information in a confident and compelling manner to a variety of audiences; simplifies complex material into clear and concise sound bites and presentations
  • Focuses on moving teams forward; isolates the "so what" and encourages collaboration to identify the "now what"; and through this process, initiates radically different ways of solving problems and redefining success

  • What we are looking for

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in Change Management, ideally within insurance or financial services; experience in/or knowledge of Manulife's business would be an asset
  • Results-oriented multi-tasker who can manage and prioritise multiple workstreams
  • Possess organizational change management/change leadership skills and hands on experience coordinating internal/external resources in support of successful implementation of change efforts
  • Confident presence with senior management, including excellent written presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong, results-oriented process and project management skills, including the ability keep multiple projects and /or processes with varying timelines moving ahead. Well organized with high focus on efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ability to work independently and through ambiguity on projects with appropriate judgement to determine when more senior involvement is required
  • Strength in building and fostering relationships and influencing across the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to motivate and inspire cross functional teams
  • Strong track record and positive reputation to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal, within and/or beyond their business area
  • Change management professional designation an asset
