***This position is responsible for the maintenance of plant equipment and building infrastructure. This includes electrical and mechanical maintenance and technical documentation. The role is also required to participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee, have supervisory and training responsibilities for all maintenance crew, and proper selection of outside contractors. This position has direct effect on health and safety and productivity because of responsibilities for maintaining and repairing all of plant systems and infrastructure. Works with Plant Manager to develop Maintenance expense budget which includes the spare parts inventory and expenditure of capital for replacement equipment. Provides technical guidance and informal training to production employees when deemed necessary.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures that Corporate Health and Safety and Environmental standards are met and that company policies are implemented and maintained in compliance with legislated requirements.
  • Plans and executes activities and projects that are aligned and prioritized with the needs of the company.
  • Develops and implements procedures to maximize operational reliability.
  • Develops and maintains a PM program to ensure uninterrupted service and safe, costeffective operation of all equipment.
  • Oversees maintenance of all plant equipment, mechanical and electrical, including motors, relays, wiring and temperature controls.
  • Ensures the repair of all production and processing lab equipment and updates technical drawings.
  • Oversees hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance of all plant systems. Work with outside contractor to maintain all air compressors.
  • Works with production planning to properly schedule PM activities.
  • Oversees all department activities including recruiting and employee development
  • Manages spare parts inventory
  • Maintains adequate spare parts of all critical equipment. Keeps adequate inventories of necessary materials. Orders all necessary parts and equipment and provides large budget item repair/expense updates to Plant Manager and Controller.
  • Identifies critical items and stock levels.
  • Controls cost while improving availability, reliability and performance
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the spirit of total quality and continuous improvement in performing the position duties.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required. Works various hours, as situations require.
  • Constant member of Joint Health and Safety Committee

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Specialized education equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree. Prefer Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering or related field and/or combination of appropriate education and work experience.

Requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience.

Five years of progressive maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment with exclusive knowledge of plastic processing equipment is strongly desired.

Advanced experience and knowledge with production equipment, tight tolerance and high stress mechanical pumping system.
