Job Summary:

Qualifications:

Must have previous experience in food preparation of therapeutic diets.
College Diploma, Chef or equivalent
Passionate about culinary arts and creative cooking
Must have empathy for and an understanding of the needs of the elderly.
Good physical and mental health.
Must be a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Banquet/catering experience an asset

Responsibilities:

Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, walls grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products. Do not rely on the memory.
Prepping and executing salads, soups, sandwiches
Assisting Chef, Sous Chef, Baker, and Evening Cooks as required
Focus on restaurant style plating and presentation of food
Ability to work unsupervised in a clean, professional, and organized way
Opening kitchen, setting up kitchen equipment, putting away orders
Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen.
Assists in control of food costs and wastage.
Is aware and endeavors to respect and promote the Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
Weekend availability is required
