Job Summary:
Qualifications:
- Must have previous experience in food preparation of therapeutic diets.
- College Diploma, Chef or equivalent
- Passionate about culinary arts and creative cooking
- Must have empathy for and an understanding of the needs of the elderly.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Must be a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Banquet/catering experience an asset
Responsibilities:
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
- Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, walls grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
- Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products. Do not rely on the memory.
- Prepping and executing salads, soups, sandwiches
- Assisting Chef, Sous Chef, Baker, and Evening Cooks as required
- Focus on restaurant style plating and presentation of food
- Ability to work unsupervised in a clean, professional, and organized way
- Opening kitchen, setting up kitchen equipment, putting away orders
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in closing the kitchen.
- Assists in control of food costs and wastage.
- Is aware and endeavors to respect and promote the Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
- Weekend availability is required
