Regional Manager of Inventory, Logistics, Technology and Transportation (Western Region), Permanent Full-TimeSupply Chain Shared Service Department, Facility and Location to be determined within Western Region
Definition of work:
Reporting to the Provincial Manager, Inventory, Logistics, Technology and transportation, this position will support the vision and mandate of the Provincial Supply Chain Shared Service Department (SC-SSD) by developing, implementing and maintaining the Inventory, Logistics, Technology and Transportation division with the health authority and site(s) it supports to meet the customers' and organizations' requirements for: quality, safety, reliability, operational efficiency and overall value.
The Regional Manager designs, implements and leads the division's operation, standardization, continuous improvement, and integration of receiving, shipping, picking, and put-away capabilities into the provincial Supply Chain Department to assist the health organizations' achieve their strategic goals.
In that capacity, this position will:
- partner and collaborate with the health organization it serves to reach an agreed level of satisfaction;
- prioritize work, implement the strategies, check the results, compare against benchmarks, and implement continuous process improvement initiatives using techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Value Mapping, etc.;
- maintain strong relationships with logistics stakeholders;
- ensure the physical security of each facility under its auspices by implementing appropriate protocols and supply chain best practices to safeguard staff and contents;
- maintain physical condition of each facility under its auspices by ensuring equipment is functional and any asset repairs and/or replacements are facilitated;
- optimize processing efficiencies by planning and implementing new design layouts such as placing high-turn items close to packing and shipping areas and implement storage solutions that protect the quality of the products and provide quick and easy access to them;
- maintain high inventory accuracy and control inventory levels through inventory audits, physical inventory counts, and cycle counting and compare results against an established baseline and customer demand;
- oversee the storage, receipt and shipping of materials to the local health authority in a manner that is consistent with the Performance Management Framework and SC-SSD key performance indicators;
- monitor the effectiveness of warehouse and inventory technology in relation to its return on investment and optimization;
- monitor financial and budget performance;
- confer with other department staff to standardize, optimize, and coordinate inventory management activities;
- manage hazardous material in compliance to the laws includin
g:
proper packaging, labeling, handling, storage, and waste practices; and ensure staff are trained accordingly;
- manage performance to targets by generating reports in support of key performance indicators and measurements and analyze, report on, and act upon the findings.;
- coordinate customer demand to maximize freight distribution requirements and attain cost efficiencies;
- determine customers' needs for receiving; put-away; picking; issuing; inventory planning, management, and disposal/repurposing; warranty management; returns; and shipping and update planning and financial information accurately in accordance with fiscal stewardship;
- support sustainability initiatives including material use reduction, reverse logistics, and recycling programs strategies and initiatives;
- complete special projects as required;
- collaborate with Purchase Operations division to:
- manage surplus and obsolete inventories and disposal of goods and equipment; and
- manage people, processes and technology in line with legislative requirements, collective agreements, risk tolerances of the customers and performance expectations; and
- understand current industry and government regulations governing sustainability, security and safety and ensure policies, procedures and practices are in compliance (e
g:
corporate social responsibility or hazardous materials handling laws).
Required qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, supply chain or related field.
- Three years' experience managing people and process in a complex inventory, logistics, technology, and transportation environment; financial management; analytics; project management; managing changes; and relationship management.
