    Description

    Reporting to the Food Store Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Perform the function and role of Head Meat Cutter.
  • Lead, train and supervise all staff in Meat department.
  • Manage and maintain consistent buying and selling policies as per association standards.
  • Direct the preparation of sales and promotion events.
  • Maintain competitive prices and initiate price checks.
  • Comply with all CFIA government standards applicable to the Meat Department.
  • Ensure a high level of prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
  • Responsible for all food safety, cleaning, sanitizing and housekeeping regulations and association standards
  • Responsible for merchandising, budgeting, inventories, human resources and customer relations.
  • Ensure the quality and condition of all merchandise in department meets all the Co-operative's standards.
  • Review and analyse the operating statements related to the department, in order to ensure efficient operating and initiate immediate corrective action where necessary.
  • Maintenance of the Co-operative's equipment, merchandising fixtures and premises.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures of the Co-operative are communicated and maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Candidates will have 5+ years of experience in a Meat Department.
  • Meat Cutter certification is required.
  • Preference would be given to candidates who have experience as a team leader, supervisor or mentor and also have experience working within a complex, high volume, retail setting.
  • Experience within the Co-op retail system would be considered an asset, in addition to CRS Candidates whom have completed or are completing Advance Training.
