Your role
The Production & Resources team is looking for a Supervising Technician that will be primarily assigned to the electronic maintenance department.
You must have an excellent understanding of our day to day operations including the various radio and television studios, including their control rooms.
You will also play an important role in collaborating with our special productions team to participate in the technical setup and transmission of Live television and radio broadcasts.
You may also be called upon to manage the day to day assignments of the Senior Broadcast technologists.Primary Duties:
- Have a good understanding of the various types of signal transmission and what type is best used based on a specific situation.
- Provide specialized operational support to the maintenance and special production teams and users.
- Help plan and organize the distribution of signals from the House of Commons broadcasting service.
- Evaluate the use of digital resources and tools, and propose new, more adapted and innovative ones, as needed.
- Keep abreast of new technologies, innovations and digital needs and be able to seize on opportunities.
- Organize tests and minilabs for new technologies and work processes.
- Prepare reports, recommendations and presentations on technological advances.
- Participate in various production and special project meetings and offer advice and solutions for innovative digital productions, according to needs and objectives.
- Coordinate the deployment and implementation of new technologies and work processes.
- Organize and deliver training/familiarization sessions; prepare support documentation.
- Monitor the appropriation of new tools and work processes and adjust as needed.
- Develop a network of internal and external contacts.
- Demonstrate creativity in problem solving.

- Highly autonomous in managing priorities and ongoing projects.

- College diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of relevant experience in either mobile production and/or electronic maintenance operations.
- Excellent knowledge of field based live programming and understanding of content production methods (digital, radio, television), online and onair content.
- Fluency in French and excellent knowledge of English.
