- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, technologists, and IT professionals, to understand data requirements and systems and to deliver scalable solutions.
- Develop workflows and automated data pipelines for discrete and real-time data extraction, cleansing, and loading.
- Configure and manage Dataiku, including:
- Database connections, user management, permissions, and code environments.
- Workflow maintenance and data sharing across projects.
- Optimization of ETL processes for performance and efficiency.
- Perform system maintenance for Dataiku, including updates and backups.
- Champion new features or plugins/extensions as required.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights based on scientific or operational data.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, focusing on:
- Embedded analytics and effective data storytelling.
- Direct connections with Dataiku, Power BI, and Teams.
- KPI tracking and lean principles in alignment with business and scientific objectives.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous validation and testing.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including but not limited to business intake forms, data processes, workflows, methodologies, and findings.
- Create and present findings virtually and/or in person.
- Generate training material, schedule, and perform virtual or in-person training sessions.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in data platforms and architecture.
- Implement best practices for process optimization, automation, and workflow improvement using Python and scripting tools.
- Lead efforts to drive technology adoption, define best practices, and ensure smooth transitions.
- Expertise in Dataiku (v12+ preferred) with strong skills in workflow design and optimization (certification is highly desirable).
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and R for data manipulation and analysis (certification is highly desirable).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS & Snowflake) and database technologies (ETL, OLAP, data lakes - certification is highly desirable).
- Proficiency in Microsoft product ecosystem (SharePoint, Power Apps, Teams).
- Proficiency in project management systems (Jira, MS Project).
- Advanced Power BI development skills, including experience with embedded analytics and data visualization (shareable portfolio is an asset).
- Green Belt Lean, Scrum, or project management certification is an asset.
- Experience in Dataiku, Python, and Power BI development.
- 3+ years of experience in pharma, healthcare, or biotech domains.
- Concrete experience in constructing data visualizations, utilization of analytical tools, and application of statistical analysis in scientific and business contexts.
- Familiarity with orchestration and configuration management tools.
- Experience maintaining Git repositories and working in Agile environments.
- Knowledge of current visualization tools and emerging trends.
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI.
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written proficiency in English is required, as the incumbent will have a client-facing role conducting technical needs assessment interviews with scientists and developing technical implementation strategies.
- An exceptional ability to translate scientific and business needs into actionable data products.
- Exceptional analytical thinking, able to dissect complex problems and derive actionable insights.
- A strong project manager with awareness of tools (Jira, MS Project).
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams including digital, engineering, lab operations, and IT, with proven project management experience to lead teams and ensure successful execution of initiatives.
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering with a focus on Data Science, Bio-Statistics, or Software Engineering.
- Asset: Master's in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Experience with Power BI Embedded analytics required.
- Familiarity with big data tools and platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Power Platform, JMP, MATLAB).
